Audition for The Policy Playhouse's 2025 season!

The Policy Playhouse is looking for actors to participate in a unique theater opportunity that combines low-stakes fun with culturally significant storytelling. This is your chance to collaborate with both emerging and established artists to bring two impactful plays to life through staged readings.

The two plays featured are:

  • Safe Harbor by James McLindon, which explores the legality of life-saving medical care for women in a post-Roe America.

  • Mrs. Davis’ Desk by Alara Kohn, a thought-provoking piece that delves into themes of personal and social identity.

Safe Harbor will be presented on Friday, March 28, and Mrs. Davis’ Desk will be presented on Saturday, March 29. Both readings will be followed by policy forums and audience talkbacks.

Important Dates:

  • Rehearsals: 2-3 weeks of rehearsal leading up to the performances.

  • Mandatory Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, March 27.

  • Performance Dates: Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29

  • Auditions: February 18 from 7-9pm at Mendenhall, Smith College (most likely in Acting Studio 2, but we’ll direct you to the exact location).

During auditions, you’ll be asked to fill out a brief form and do a cold read of a scene. Casting decisions will be made that same evening.

Content Warnings: Both plays touch on sensitive topics, including abortion, death, and mental health. We will provide more detailed content warnings and support for all participants as needed.

If you have any questions or would like more information, feel free to email us at thepolicyplayhouse@gmail.com. You can also fill out this pre-audition intent form so we can get in touch with you: https://forms.gle/W8o67N7Lefy9mPEa7.

We look forward to seeing you at auditions!
